MCP Connector

Connect ProGantt Flow to Claude or any MCP client, and let your AI assistant read and update your Gantt charts — tasks, dependencies, milestones, people and tags.

1. What it does

ProGantt Flow is a Gantt chart and project planning app. Its MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets an AI assistant work on your ProGantt projects on your behalf: draft a full plan with dependencies, reschedule tasks, assign people, track progress, spot who is overloaded, and answer questions about what blocks what.

Everything the assistant does is a normal edit to your project. Changes appear in the ProGantt web app immediately, for you and for everyone you share the project with.

Projects shared with you by others don't count towards your limit. Connecting Claude through OAuth doesn't use an access token.

3. Connect Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

  1. In Claude, open Settings › Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the server URL, including the /mcp path: 
    https://mcp.progantt.com/mcp
  3. Click Connect. A ProGantt page opens: sign in with the Google account you use for ProGantt and click Allow.
  4. Back in Claude, enable the ProGantt connector in a conversation and ask something like “List my ProGantt projects”.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization Owner may need to add the connector first before members can connect it. Once connected on claude.ai, the connector is also available in Claude Desktop and mobile.

4. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other clients

Clients that authenticate with a header use a personal access token instead of OAuth.

  1. In ProGantt, click Connect AI on the dashboard, pick your client and generate a token. The token starts with pgmcp_ and is shown only once — copy it straight away.
  2. Add the server to your client with the token as a bearer header.

Older clients (LM Studio and others)

Clients that only speak the legacy HTTP+SSE transport can use https://mcp.progantt.com/sse with the same bearer header.

5. What the assistant can do

The connector exposes 27 tools. Each one is annotated as read-only or as a write, so Claude can ask for your confirmation before changing anything, according to your settings.

Read (never change anything)

list_projects Projects you own or that are shared with you.
get_project Full content of one project: tasks, milestones, people, tags, collaborators.
list_tasks, list_tasks_by_filter All tasks, or those matching a title, tag, person, date window or progress range.
get_task_tree Tasks as a nested tree of groups and subtasks.
get_dependency_graph What depends on what, broken dependencies, and cycles.
get_resource_load Tasks and person-days per person or team, optionally within a date window.
list_milestones, list_resources, list_tags The milestones, people/teams and tags defined in a project.

Create (add data, never remove it)

create_project A new, empty project owned by you.
add_task, bulk_add_tasks One task, or a whole plan in a single step with dependencies, subtasks, tags and people.
add_milestone, add_resource, add_tag A milestone, a person/team, or a tag.

Modify or delete (can change or remove existing data)

update_task, update_milestone Rename, reschedule, set progress, color, notes, dependencies, tags or people.
move_task Reorder a task in the list without changing its dates.
set_task_parent, create_task_group Nest tasks as subtasks, un-nest them, or group them under a new phase.
assign_resources, tag_tasks Add, replace or remove people and tags on several tasks at once.
delete_task, delete_milestone, delete_resource, delete_tag Delete one item. Deletions can't be undone.

There is no tool to delete a project, to change who a project is shared with, or to touch your billing. Those stay in the web app.

6. Example prompts

Create a ProGantt project called “Website relaunch” and draft the plan: discovery, design, build and launch phases, with realistic durations and dependencies between them.

Claude creates the project and adds the whole plan in one step, with phases as groups, subtasks inside them and the order expressed as dependencies.

In my “Website relaunch” project, the design phase is running a week late. Push it and everything that depends on it back by 7 days, and tell me the new launch date.

Claude reads the dependency graph, moves the affected tasks and reports the result.

Who is overloaded in “Mobile app v2” over the next two weeks? Suggest how to rebalance the work and apply it if I agree.

Claude checks the load per person for that window, proposes reassignments and, once you confirm, updates the tasks.

Mark “API integration” as 60% done, tag it as “backend” and assign it to Maria.

Claude finds the task by its title and applies all three changes in a single update.

Claude reads the project and lists the unfinished tasks that the milestone depends on.

8. Data and privacy

The connector reads and writes only your ProGantt project data. It does not read your conversations with Claude. For each tool call we record the tool name, whether it succeeded and how long it took — never the arguments or the content. Access tokens are stored only as hashes. 9. Troubleshooting

“Couldn't reach the MCP server” when adding the connector

Check that the URL ends in /mcp: https://mcp.progantt.com/mcp. The bare domain doesn't serve the MCP endpoint.

Claude connects but finds no projects

You probably signed in with a different Google account from the one you use in ProGantt. Disconnect the connector in Claude, connect again and pick the right account.

“The Free plan includes 3 projects…”

Free accounts can own up to three projects. Delete one in the web app, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited projects. Projects shared with you don't count.

“You have read-only access to project …”

You are a viewer on that project. Ask its owner to make you an editor.

“You do not have access to project …” or “Project … not found”

The project was deleted, or its owner stopped sharing it with you. Ask Claude to list your projects again.

Token-based client returns 401 / “Token not recognized”

The token was revoked or mistyped. Generate a new one from Connect AI and update your client config. If you've reached your plan's token limit, revoke an unused one first.

Claude asks you to sign in again

Sessions renew automatically, but after about 30 days without use you'll be asked to sign in again. Click Connect and sign in with the same Google account.

A task starts on a slightly different date than expected

When you don't give a start date, tasks created from the connector start today at 00:00 UTC, while the web app uses your local midnight. Give an explicit date to avoid the difference.
